Indications
Conservative surgery is intended for patients under 40 years of age who do not have advanced osteoarthritis. The earlier the procedure is performed, the better and more durable the results.
Principle
Peri-acetabular osteotomy requires a precise evaluation of the morphology of the hip joint, as well as the cartilage status. In the first instance, a medical treatment is systematically favored, combining weight control, targeted muscle re-education and a course of anti-inflammatory drugs. Intra-articular infiltrations are also prescribed.
CARE
After failure of the medical treatment, the indication for peri-acetabular osteotomy is re-evaluated in the light of the cartilage damage already present, the level of disability, and finally the goals in terms of recovery.
